What Does a Retrofit Designer Do?

Retrofit Designers convert assessment data and property conditions into safe, compliant and cost-effective upgrade plans in line with PAS 2035:2023.

They scope appropriate measures (e.g. IWI, EWI, RIR, ventilation, heating, fabric-first strategies), produce technical drawings, coordinate closely with the Retrofit Coordinator and support installers through to handover.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Develop whole-dwelling, risk-appropriate designs using Retrofit Assessor data and site constraints
  • Specify measures, junction treatments and detailing, including ventilation and moisture-management strategy
  • Coordinate with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors and Installers; respond to RFIs and clarify scope
  • Produce compliant design documentation for TrustMark lodgement and audit readiness
  • Lead or support redesigns where stock is complex or high-risk (Path C properties)
  • Produce fully compliant design documentation for TrustMark lodgement, including all evidence required for audit readiness
  • Lead or support redesigns where the property is complex, high-risk, or falls under Path C requirements

HOW WE WORK

Our delivery model is built around clarity, compliance, and fast approvals, giving both Designers and delivery partners a consistent, audit-ready workflow on every project.
